Soft drinks deplete water from the body much more than providing it water. They work to increase the diuresis which will lead to blood acidity. To compensate water loss from the body as a result of drinking one cup of soft drinks, the body needs a large amount of water to compensate for water loss.
Soft drinks do not quench body thirst; on the contrary, they increase its dryness. Soft drinks are considered a major cause of the high rate of obesity since they contain a large amount of sugar which reach to 7 teaspoons, as well as the high calories. Also, soft drinks contain high percentage of phosphoric acid compounds which increase the body's loss to basic minerals, such as calcium. They also lead to osteoporosis.
Moreover, the high sugar content in soft drinks stimulates pancreas to secrete hormone insulin, leading a sudden change in blood glucose and increasing risk of developing diabetes and other diseases. Soft drinks cause indigestion, where the high amount of sugar with the caffeine slow the digestive process which will consequently slow down the absorption of the nutrients.
Soft drinks cause depression and insomnia as they contain caffeine and other artificial substances. In addition, soft drinks are considered high in acidity because they contain phosphoric and citric acid and other additional and processed substances. Soft drinks cans are exposed to corrosion after a storage period which will lead to leak the mineral trioxide and cause poisoning.
Soft drinks contain processed substances which will increase risk of developing chronic diseases, such as cancer.
